1982 - Mahaan Group founded
Two daring visionaries, Mr. Amar Nath Goyal and Mr. Sanjeev Goyal, established Mahaan Group with a mission to provide safe, tasty and high quality dairy products for the Indian consumer.
Formerly owning the Road Master Cycle’s plant and brand in early 1960’s and 1970’s in Punjab, Mr. Goyal, along with his brothers decided to exit the bicycle business and forayed into the dairy industry. This led to the establishment of three manufacturing units with the brands Mahaan, Shakti and Madhu:
Paonta Sahib (Himachal Pradesh),
Pehowa (Haryana); and
Kot Kapura (Punjab)
During the 1980s in India, there were less than ten private sector industrialists and Mahaan’s Paonta Sahib facility was processing 36 million kilograms of fresh milk annually to produce pure ghee and dairy creamers—products that are still heroes of the Mahaan portfolio.
We have been a consumer-first company since our inception and so, we always bring a consumer-before manufacturer mindset to all our product development.
